Rajasthan has been home to royal families since ancient times. Through the ages, kings have built palatial palaces and epic forts, which are held in high regards even today. City Palace in Jaipur and Brahma temple in Pushkar are must visit sites in the state.

The Jantar Mantar monument in Jaipur has made its way to become the world’s largest stone sundial. Completed in 1734, it is a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments and is situated in close proximity with City Palace and Hawa Mahal. Akbar’s Fort in Ajmer is a 16th-century red sandstone fort which was once home to Mughal Dynasty emperors and is currently open for tours. Vyas Chhatri in Jaisalmer is a Rajasthani-style sandstone cenotaph dedicated to the sage Vyas, who wrote the Mahabharata epic. Sunehri Kothi in Tonk hall sits within the old palace complex. Its walls and ceilings are an expanse of enamel mirror-work, gilt and painted glass illuminated through stained-glass windows from Belgium.
